Shiva Hindu Lord of the Universe wood carving, this is an amazing work of spiritual art. Carved from one single chunk of suar wood by by Master Carver Komang Rai.
Suar wood is prized by the Balinese for it's amazing interlocking grain that is resistant to cracking, it is perfect for carvings like this.
The hands of Shiva held in a mudra one raised and one upon his lap. A crescent moon adorns his hair and a cobra protects Shiva with his open hood as he sits upon a tiger base.
The carving is polished with wax and left the natural color. It is also a very dense and heavy wood that will last you a lifetime.
