Our Story
Our Mission at Acadia World Traders
Since 1988, Acadia World Traders has been dedicated to offering ethically sourced, handmade, and sustainable art and home décor — directly from the talented artisans and craftspeople of Bali and the surrounding islands of Indonesia.
Each winter, we return to our island home in Bali to reconnect with the artists, craftsmen, and their families. We visit their family compounds and workshops, fostering meaningful relationships built on trust, mutual respect, and shared purpose.
Traveling the back roads, bustling marketplaces, and village workshops, we handpick one-of-a-kind treasures. Our coastal Maine shop reflects this ever-changing kaleidoscope of Balinese folk art, Buddhist and Hindu statuary, wood carvings, temple art, traditional masks, mermaids, winged spiritchaser mobiles, architectural salvage, antiques, batik clothing, sterling silver jewelry, and more.
Every item you purchase is ethically and sustainably sourced — made from certified woods and materials, with deep cultural significance and care. Because we work directly with the artisans, without middlemen, your purchase supports their livelihoods and helps preserve the rich artistic traditions of Bali and Indonesia for future generations.
