The Barong Brutuk dance is a rarely performed ritual in Bali. It is performed only in the Bali Aga village of Trunyan high upon the slopes of Sacred Mount Batur Volcano.
Only the unmarried young men are allowed to participate in the dance, they are dressed in dried banana leaves and primitive mask to spread good luck and fertility to all the people of the village.
The Bali Aga village people believe that they are the original Balinese as they were there before Majapahit migration from Java began in 1340.
