Quan Yin or Guan Yin ~ Bodhisattva Goddess of Compassion & Mercy Born of the Lotus Hand Carved Wood Sculpture
Hand carved by Master Carver Wayan Mesin from a long and graceful solid chunk of crocodile wood, the wood is very dense & has a beautiful clear grain. This carving is very finely carved with an amazing amount and attention to detail. The wood is left the natural color and has been hand waxed to bring out the color and grain of this gorgeous wood.
Standing serenely upon a lotus leaf base, this elegant Kwan Yin radiates serenity & compassion. One hand is formed into a mudra or blessing, the other she holds the vessel of sacred holy water. There are lotus buds grow up around her framing each side off her body.
She is a Bodhisattva who has attained enlightenment & may enter Nirvana, instead she chooses to remain on earth to watch over the world & to bringing the gift of enlightenment. Also known as a guardian of fisherman, protecting them from the sea.
