Standing serenely upon a lotus base or padma, Kwan Yin's head is backed by a sun shaped halo, her face radiates serenity & compassion. One hand is formed into a mudra or blessing, the other she holds the vessel of sacred holy water. Left the natural color of the wood and waxed to bring out the color and grain of this gorgeous wood.
Kwan Yin is known as a Bodhisattva who has attained enlightenment & may enter Nirvana, instead she chooses to remain on earth to bringing the gift of enlightenment to the world. Also known as a guardian of fishermen, protecting them from the sea.
